Notification from United Utilities

Upcoming ground investigation work that will be taking place near the Shropshire Union Canal and railway line off the A49 for our .

To continue developing our plans for the refurbishment of the Vyrnwy Aqueduct, a section of which runs through your Parish Council, we’re planning to carry out ground investigations in close proximity to the Shropshire Union Canal. We’ve already carried out a number of ecological, environmental and ground investigations to assist our team with the planning and we now need to carry out further surveys to understand the ground conditions.

Our work is expected to start on Monday 11th April and will take around 2/3 weeks to complete. This will involve drilling into the ground with specialised equipment, an example of the type of equipment that will be used can be seen enclosed within the letter that has been distributed to local residents within the Eaton and Rushton Community (see below). Once complete, we will continue to monitor the ground for up to 3 months before removing the equipment again. Whilst some of our survey work may be visible, all of our working areas are within private land and we’ve planned this work with those landowners affected.

We understand this type of work can be inconvenient and our team will do all they can to minimise any disruption for you and the local community.

We appreciate that there could be questions about these pieces of work, and also regarding our future proposals for maintenance on the Vyrnwy Aqueduct. As representatives of the local residents should you wish to ask any questions then please do by this email address. If residents themselves need to contact us they should use the number 03456 723 723 and quote the project reference 80063071.04 to speak to one of our team.

For any additional information on our proposals, we are encouraging the use of our exhibition platform which can be accessed via: www.uuhub.co.uk/vyrnwy
